31 Weeks

Update on my gestational hypertension:
My blood pressure has been way better at my last two appointments.  Still slightly...just an itty bit high but way lower than before.  Oh the things pregnancy does to the body!  I started my twice a week ATU readings or gosh...I don't even know what you call them...basically, I have to go up to Labor and Delivery and get strapped up to a machine for 20 minutes to track the baby's heart beat, my heart beat, and my contractions.  They are just watching to make sure everything is looking normal.  My first one went great!  They said I have thee happiest baby ever...and I hope it stays that way!  :)  My blood pressure was amazing.  And I even started getting contractions which I wouldn't have known except they told me I was having one--I thought the baby was just moving a little.  haha!  I'm sure that'll change.  So I go in again today to do it all again...hopefully we have the same results!

How far along?  31 weeks
Total weight gain:  +15ish pounds…probably more just haven’t been weighed in a week or so.
Maternity clothes? Dresses, leggings, and maternity tops or any long tops I can find in my closet to go over the bump!
Sleep:  still not great…been waking up at 5:30am most days
Stretch marks?  Still none…lathering on that cream!  I’m thinking around my belly button I may get some…the skin just seems a lot tighter there…we’ll see
Miss anything?  Sleeping through the night, not huffing and puffing every time I go up and down the stairs, bending over with ease, not running into things with my belly because I’m not used to it being there, feta cheese--I want a greek salad so bad, etc.
Movement:  we've got the hiccups folks...usually just once a day, maybe twice!
Food Cravings: FRUIT…of course, tomatoes which is crazy because normally I don’t like them at all…I don’t even get them on sandwiches or hamburgers or I pick them off my salads but I LOVE them right now; still loving birthday cake OREO’s, also I’ve been wanting a hot fudge sundae (might have to make a trip to Coldstone this week)
Anything making you sick or queasy:  not really
Gender:  it’s a GIRL…I can’t wait to meet her!
Labor signs:  guess I started feeling contractions…but like I said, didn’t even know it until they told me that was what was happening
Symptoms: allergies, that rash on my hands is still here…had to ask the doc about it because it’s not going away and just looks awful.  You can’t really tell on the picture because it’s on the sides of my fingers but on my right hand you can kinda see on and around my thumb some darker spots…weird…they gave me some cream to put on it to see if it helps
Belly Button in or out?  In
Wedding rings on or off?  on
Mood: happy and stressed a little
Excitement this week: just the usual working on projects…oh and with my apt at L&D they did an ultrasound so I got to see that precious little girl in there…she’s so cute!
Looking forward to:  My BABY SHOWER…we have some fun things planned…I can’t wait to share pictures afterwards with you all!
NOT Looking forward to:   Kyle leaving on the 5th for approximately a month...yikes...lets hope she's not super early

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all those out there who served or are serving our country, including my hubby and Grandpa Winkler!  I appreciate all your service and I know a lot of times it has gone unnoticed but today I'm thinking especially about you!

So I've been feeling the need to brag about my husband, Kyle, and today seemed very fitting since it's Memorial Day.  I've just been thinking a lot lately about how lucky I am to have Kyle in my life.  Not only in my life but as a husband who takes incredible care of me.  It just hits me some days harder than others and today is one of them.  Could be a little bit of the hormones...just saying.  ;)

I was driving home from running a few errands, coming over one of the hills that looks onto Travis AFB and I see these amazing planes flying in the pattern and I know that one of them is Kyle.  He was just flying a local today, keeping up on his currencies.  I'm just so amazed and impressed by what he does...I know, a lot of times I don't even really realize that my husband pilots a plane.  Not only does he pilot this huge plane but he flies for the the Air Force to protect our country.  Now, how many people can say they do that?  Not many.  I'm just so proud of him--it's a pretty neat thing what he does.

On top of flying, he has a job on base he does when he's not flying...to put it in easy terms it's an office sort of job.  So, he comes back from missions and works there.  Then, on top of flying and his office job he has started his masters degree.  (This is pretty normal with all these pilots, getting a masters degree is kind of the next thing expected of them.)  When he gets home from missions he goes to work and when he gets home from work he studies for his masters classes.  Then, when he's done studying for his masters classes he studies more on the C-5.  This man works hard!  So very proud to call him my own.  :)

Lately, I feel like that doesn't leave much time for me....but once again, I'm sure that's some of my hormones talking.  :)  (That could also be why there is still a crib, mattress, rug, and dresser in my entryway.  haha!)  He is a busy guy!  Little baby b and I Love You so much, KYLE!  XOXO

***  Since today is Memorial Day and I did this post I'll be posting my 31 weeks either late tonight or tomorrow! :)

A Few Favorites

Absolutely can not wait to see the little baby b in these super cute outfits.  Like I said quite a while ago, I've bought a few outfits for her but I've been trying to be really good about not.  She's lucky to have been gifted so many adorable outfits so far!  The peach-ish pink-ish bubble dress and matching sandals are too cute for words.  I'm in love with any sort of romper out there like the striped one below.  Little baby b also has a few others but the one below is a 0-3 months so hopefully we'll see her in it real soon.  And anything with light pink I'm a huge sucker for right now.  Well...ever since we found out little baby b is a girl I can't get enough pink...seriously!

Just another shot of the clothes but check out the adorable purple puma sweatsuit on the end....Kyle LOVES it...and so do I!  Thanks Kinsey!

My favorite things

I thought I'd share some of my favorite things I've found registering/shopping/eating/making for little baby b!

1.  Jellycat stuffed animals and books!  They are so so soft and so so cute!  I love them all!  You can find them at Anthropology and other small boutiques but cheaper on Amazon!

2.  Pink, white, and gray chevron pattern.  I bought a little kid chair in this exact same pattern at HomeGoods.  My friend has one for her daughter and Paige absolutely loves it, so when I saw a baby chair with this pattern and color you better believe I swiped it! I will show a pic soon!

3.  Black & White books and toys.  I love black and white but I've also read that it's easy for babies to differentiate between the bold contrast of light and dark space.  They don't always need all the fluffy colors.

4.  BIRTHDAY CAKE OREO's!  You know I had to add some cravings in here!  These are amazing and I suggest you go get yourself a box before they don't carry them anymore.  I love birthday cake but am not a huge Oreo fan, however, these are an exception!  I may or may not have just gone to Wal-Mart and bought the rest of their stock.  In my defense, there were only 5 boxes left (each with only about 20 cookies) because they are limited edition.  Also, had to ask a worker to get a ladder to get them off the top shelf...haha!    YUM!    Don't worry though, I have self control...all but one box are in my freezer!

5.  Zulily!  I am loving this website.  I try to check it every morning because all the good stuff sometimes goes fast!  You have to be on top of it!  Great for cute finds for little baby b or all the bajillion baby showers I have to go to!  :)

6.  My sewing machine.  I love sewing and have so many projects I'm working on that it's so nice to be able to have a good sewing machine to use!

Baby Trip #6

We went to San Francisco!  Little baby b got to see the bridge...AGAIN...but she got to take her Uncle Shea!  Here's just a couple pics from our trip....oh, and we just MAY have stopped by Ghirardelli Square and had a chocolate shake...just maybe...

Shea also got to see a lot of the course I ran during the Nike Women's Half...we accidentally took a couple wrong turns that ended up looking familiar to me because I ran them!  :)

sailboat shot for dad

there was a little haze over the city that day but the temp was great!

NURSERY Update

I've been keeping my brother busy while he's been visiting!  We painted the nursery!  I am thrilled with how it turned out!  I don't have a final picture yet because I'm still cleaning up the paint mess but I will post that soon...you'll get the picture with the pics I've posted below!  I've never painted anything by myself before so it was a very fun learning experience.  We taped some of the woodwork for edging but then we free-handed at the top of the wall....which I think was actually easier, believe it or not.  I know my Aunt Carey would be impressed! :)

Here's little baby b's nursery!

the room before...and yes, that pile of junk is still there!  :)

the pastel green it was painted before

I like these two cute windows on this wall

Shea painting the first coat of paint

so happy to help...seriously, the best brother ever!

painting, painting, painting

this is just after one coat

Shea starting the second coat...looking very good.

this is still just after one coat...but,  you can see the paint is slightly gray-er than the woodwork!  I love it!

repurposed dresser project

Here is that Goodwill dresser I bought a few weeks ago that I'm re-painting to put in little baby b's nursery!

What I love about the dresser:

  • the shabby chic look of it
  • the somewhat curved legs (I'm sure that look has a name..but I have no idea what you call that) at the bottom...they're so perfect for the room
  • the fact that I bought it for $40...saving the money for other baby purchases

What I don't love about the dresser:
  • the wood color...definitely painting it white
  • the top drawer was missing and replaced with 2 random drawers bolted together...therefore, I plan on just taking it out and finding a basket to put in it or put up a piece of fabric...we'll see!
  • the few scratches in it...it adds character, right?!  :)

I plan on replacing the handles with crystal knobs...however, since the handles in it now have two screws per handle...is there a way to make just two knobs in each drawer work....anyone know?

28 Weeks

How far along?  28 weeks
Total weight gain:  +15 pounds
Maternity clothes? Still dresses and leggings…need to get a couple more longer maternity shirts though…on a mission for those this week.
Sleep:  sleeping okay
Stretch marks?  No but my belly is itching from stretching like crazy
Miss anything?  Sleep and moving like a normal person
Movement:  She’s all over the place!  So precious.
Food Cravings: fruit…green grapes and blueberries again this week! Chipotle, veggie sandwiches.
Anything making you sick or queasy:  not really
Gender:  GIRL
Labor signs:  nope
Symptoms: still sneezing like CRAZY, I think it’s turned into allergies…which I have NEVER had before…boo!
Belly Button in or out?  in
Wedding rings on or off?  on
Mood: happy happy happy…and sometimes getting anxious/stressed about everything
Excitement this week: got to see baby in my ultrasound…she’s getting so much bigger!  They say she’s weighs about 3 pounds and is in the 54Th percentile…which is a good thing because with the hypertension they want to make sure she’s still growing.  Also, they said her head is measuring a little large…I said, well that makes sense because her mother and father both have big heads!  haha
Looking forward to:  painting and projects with Shea!  Hopefully I’ll be sharing progress pics!

More Projects

I am SO on top of my posts this week!  ...at least so far...

So I tell you guys I am working on projects but I've been bad at sharing so here is one of the fun little projects I've been working on!  Pacifier clips!  They're so girly and cute and chic and I absolutely adore them...they turned out better than I thought!
I got the idea off of nothing other than Pinterest and made a few adaptions based on what I have but aren't they amazing?!  :)

I had never sewn on sew-on snaps before so that was that was a new adventure for me...but not hard at all!  I'm basically a pro now.  :)

Here is a sneak peak at the mobile I'm working on....
