26 Weeks

Update:  My appointment went well this week.  My blood pressure is still high, but the second reading they did before I left the office had dropped a ton!  Good news is I don’t have to go on meds unless my blood pressure is consistently 160s over 110s and I’ve never even had a reading that high so that’s good!  I will still have to go through all the precautionary tests—which I’m totally okay with!  And my chart officially changed colors from regular to high risk so I’ll be seeing different docs than I have been.  My doctor also told me to eat more protein (which is hard for me to do in the first place, but I’ve found some yummy alternatives like nutty trail mix from Trader Joe’s) go on walks everyday, and meditate (kinda makes me laugh) so for me, I’ll just be doing some very relaxing activities, like a little yoga, stretching, or reading scripture.  No stressing...eek..hard to do!  :)  Oh and all my blood work, urine test, and glucose tests came back either good or negative so I was trilled about that!!  The only bad news is she said I will probably have to do a couple more 24 hour urine tests…..NOOOO!  :)

How far along?  26 weeks
Total weight gain:  +12 pounds!
Maternity clothes? Loving dresses (will be living in them from here on out I’m pretty sure) and leggings with longer tops
Sleep:  not sleeping…
Stretch marks?  No…but feeling the tummy stretch is scaring me!
Miss anything?  SLEEP…not even good sleep, just sleep!
Movement:  Oh my, YES! She’s all over the place!  Not only is she a little soccer star but I think we have a gymnast in our midst.
At my appointment this week…the nurse was trying to find the baby’s heartbeat and every time she thought she had found it little baby b would kick real hard and she’d have to find it again!  The nurse said she’d never been kicked so many times trying to find the heartbeat.  I just laughed.
Food Cravings: fruit, sweets, and Mac & Cheese from Noodles!
Guy checking me out at Sam’s said,”What, are you making tons of Jamba Juice’s or something?  (my cart had a huge carton of strawberries, a huge carton of blueberries, a huge carton of green grapes, and a huge carton of raspberries)  I said, “yep, pretty much!”
Anything making you sick or queasy:  actually…no
Gender:  GIRL
Labor signs:  no
Symptoms: sneezing A LOT, again…weird  Also, had a couple mini emotional breakdowns this week...I think just due to all the info I've been getting, lack of sleep, and Kyle leaving on a trip because I've been so spoiled having him home basically since the beginning of December.
Belly Button in or out?  in
Wedding rings on or off?  on
Mood: happy happy happy
Excitement this week: WE GOT THE CRIB!   Unfortunately, it’s still in the box in my entryway
1. Because we need to paint the room first and
2. Because Kyle left on a trip and I can’t move it.
Looking forward to:  more projects, working on the nursery, the shower my amazing friends have planned for me, and of course meeting little baby b

Amazon.com is amazing!

Well, after talking with a few moms I know out here I have come to the conclusion that Amazon.com is absolutely my new favorite thing.  Did you know you can have a baby registry on Amazon.com?...well, you can and it's amazing!  Seriously, everything is cheaper and sometimes way cheaper on amazon.  There are a few exceptions but if you hold out a day or two chances are the price will drop and be lower than at a walk-in store.  The only major downside to it is if you are having a shower...and people wait until last minutes...they can't run to the store to pick something up on the way to the shower...I must admit, I am guilty of that countless times.  :)  But if you plan ahead, it is easy and saves you lots of dollars!  Another neat feature about Amazon baby registry is that if you buy an item off a registry somewhere else the person can mark that it has been bought on the Amazon registry...how cool!

One of my friends told me they also have an AmazonMom which is great.  It includes AmazonPrime which you can try for free for 3 months...which means free shipping on pretty much everything.  Also, most if not all the baby items are free returns for 365 days....AMAZING!  I believe it also includes their Subscribe and Save program which is, again, great because you can have items such as diapers, food, wet wipes, etc. delivered every month automatically to your doorstep.  And since you have AmazonPrime...shipping is FREE!  How great!

Here is the link to my amazon.com registry:  click me :)

I am also registered at BuyBuyBaby....(not to be confused with byebyebaby)...haha:  click me :)

Now, there is something to be said for going into a store and using the fun little scanner to register for things so I did that, too, at BuyBuyBaby.  For those of you back home in NE where I don't believe they have any...it's part of Bed Bath and Beyond.   So basically you walk in and it looks just like Bed Bath and Beyond but is ALL BABY.  I really like BuyBuyBaby as well.  In my opinion, much better than Babies R US.  You can also use the 20% coupons for Bed Bath and Beyond at BuyBuyBaby!

Success story... On Amazon there was a humidifier that was $44.99 that we registered for and on BuyBuyBaby it was $49.99.  One night I was adding to the registry on Amazon and noticed the price on the humidifier went down to $27.99 and you better believe I swiped that!  :)  The next morning it had gone back up to I think $43, so I saved about $15.

Just thought I'd share my excitement for Amazon.com with everyone!  :)

25 Weeks

yep, starting to pop out!

I had my 24 week appointment last week and my blood pressure was a bit high so they wanted me to come in this week to get it tested again.  Well…it didn’t go as great as I had hoped…I had been checking my blood pressure at the gym all of last week and it was very normal so I kinda thought my high reading at my appointment was a fluke.  WRONG! I went in to get it checked on Monday and it had skyrocketed.  :(  The nurse even tested it 3 separate times…boo!  So, I had to be seen by a doc since it was so high.

Since I’m a glass half full kind of girl I’ll start with the good!  :)

The good:
-we will get to see little baby b on the ultrasound at least 3 more times than we would have to check on her growth due to my high blood pressure
-we will more than likely get to meet our little baby b a week or so early because they won’t let me go past 39 weeks

The bad:
-I’m officially considered a “high-risk pregnancy”
-might have to go on blood pressure medicine…will find out this week
-lots more trips to the hospital for close observation of me and baby’s growth
-could possibly develop pre-eclampsia…praying that doesn’t happen
-24 hour urine collection and more lab testing

The funny:
When the nurse took me back to the doctor’s office the doctor’s immediately response was, “dangit, you’re not fat and overweight…I was ready to give you the you’ve just gained too much weight speech!”
haha…I didn’t really know how to respond to that so I just said…”what does that mean?”

Then she went on to explain that I was really healthy and could actually gain some more weight and that my body just must respond to pregnancy with high blood pressure.  All in all she made me feel a bit better after explaining there was nothing I did wrong or could do different.

How far along?  25 weeks
Total weight gain:  +9 pounds!
Maternity clothes? Still only have a couple maternity tops that I wear with leggings or my regular jeans….Most of my jeans still fit but slightly uncomfortable so I do the ole rubber band trick…it works great!
Sleep:  sleep has been up and down this week…a couple horrible nights (one of those due to my 24 hour urine collection…it was awful) and a couple okay nights.
Stretch marks?  No…but feeling the tummy stretch is scaring me!
Miss anything?  Good sleep!
Movement:  Oh my, YES! She’s all over the place!
Food Cravings: fruit-especially strawberries from the strawberry patch!  Yummy
Funny story…I asked Kyle to get me a bowl of strawberries and to just fill it full and then he could eat some too.  So he brought them over to me and said just eat what you want and I’ll eat the rest.  Well, I ate what I wanted and handed him an empty bowl!  He laughed and said he thought he had put way too many in the bowl when he was scooping them out.  He was wrong…sorry, Kyle!
Anything making you sick or queasy:  actually…no
Gender:  she’s a girl!  And she might have a name…maybe!  Sorry, no telling until she arrives!  :)
Labor signs:  no way but I’m pretty sure I felt a leg trying to get out!  Haha :)
Symptoms: high blood pressure, I guess.  No bueno.
Belly Button in or out?  in
Wedding rings on or off?  on
Mood: so so so so so so happy!  I just get so giddy thinking about all the projects I want to work on and then I get even giddier (is that a word?) when I think about meeting her and holding her and seeing Kyle with her
Excitement this week: working on projects which I will post some pictures of later this week…hopefully!  OH AND WE ORDERED A CRIB…should be here this week!  Yay!
Looking forward to:  more projects, working on the nursery, and of course meeting little baby b

Nursery Decor Sneak Peek!

Here are a few pics of some of the items I've started collecting to put in little baby b's nursery.

don't mind my swiffer wet there in the background..haha
I found the owl at Pier 1...and it's gray!

I swiped this from Target.  Love the pink chevron...and it's silky!

Home Goods came through again, a cute light pink polk-a-dot birdie bank...every kid needs a 'piggy' bank in their room

found the heart (gray)  and frame (white) at an antique store in Roseville...both are so cute and perfect for little baby b's nursery

My Baby Projects

Project #1:  Crochet

Grandma Joyce taught me to crochet basic things when I was really young.  Since then, haven't touched a crochet hook or even yarn for that matter.  Something (obviously having a baby) made me decide to try again and it's been a success so far.  I'm not perfect but doing pretty good for re-teaching/teaching myself.  I've just been watching tutorials on YouTube and it seems to be working out well.  It took me a bit to really figure out some of the basics but after some repetition...it's making sense!

Here is a little hat and flower I threw together in about half an hour.  So far, I've made them in 2 colors and hopefully more on the way!

pink hat with large cream flower

Cream hat with small fuchsia flower

I did NOT make these...they were gifted to little baby b from a friend....leg warmers and a hat with a bill...so cute

I did, however, make the white rose....(kinda a bad picture)

Project #2:  More Crochet

I saw on this blog these cute little barefoot baby sandals and followed the tutorial and...voilà...

the little loop goes around the big toe and the back loop goes around the ankle

so cute
Aren't they just the cutest little things ever?!  I love them so much and Kyle actually loves them too!  He even said he can't wait to see them on little baby b--and I can't either!  They're even cuter on a baby foot so check out that blog if you want to see what they actually look like on.  I might even add some to my ETSY shop, too, we'll see.

Some of the other projects on my list are:

  • more headbands (already made a ton)
  • onesies
  • I might attempt a little dress or something
  • paci clips
  • curtains
  • possibly a crib skirt
  • bows
  • and probably much more...I'll keep ya posted!  :)

Let me know what you all think or if you have any tips/suggestions.  Leave me a comment!  :)

23 Weeks!

How far along?  23 weeks
